Pauline E. Lukes
Pauline E. Lukes, age 90, of Marietta,GA passed away Thursday, December 29, 2011.
Mrs. Lukes graduated from Seaboard High School in Seaboard, NC. She moved to Greensboro, NC, then to Washington D.C. where she worked at the Pentagon during World War II. She continued as a civilian employee after the war dealing with logistics and statistics. She married the love of her life, Richard, in 1954. She moved to Kensington, Maryland, after the birth of her only child, Barbara. Mrs. Lukes became an active member of the Montgomery County Medical Auxiliary and served as its president in 1965. She was a devoted wife and mother. After her daughter began college, she studied for, and obtained, her real estate license. In retirement she enjoyed her lengthy stays in Florida with her husband. After Richard’s death, she moved to Marietta, Georgia to live near Barbara and share in the childhoods of her beloved grandchildren, Quinn and Richard. She loved her sisters, brothers, and their children. She will be missed by her many family members and friends.
Survivors include her daughter, Barbara J. Lukes, and husband, Steve C. Milby, of Marietta; two sisters, Vernie Mae Davenport of Garysburg and Delano Davis of Pleasant Hill; one brother, Wesley Edwards, of Winter Haven, FL; two grandchildren, Quinn F. Milby and Richard C. Milby; several nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held Monday, January 2, at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Askew Funeral & Cremation Services in Roanoke Rapids with Rev. Randy Martin officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.

Inurnment will be held at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
